The Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Ningo Prampram’s electoral district secretary, Okoe Mensah, with immediate effect.
This comes after the constituency clerk accused Ningo Prampram MP, Samuel George, of being behind a shooting that took place on Sunday 27 September in Atta Mensah, a suburb of Mobole.
Mensah in a signed statement said that although the residents of Mobole are peace-loving people, they would not allow themselves to be intimidated by the MP.
However, the NDC lawmaker also came out with a statement to discredit his constituency clerk’s accusations.
Subsequently, in a statement signed by Greater Accra Regional Secretary Theophilus Tetteh on Friday, Mr. Okoe Mensah is to be suspended for six months in accordance with Article 46 of the NDC constitution.
“By this copy of this letter we are referring the matter to the Disciplinary Committee of the Constituency for further action to be taken.”
Furthermore, Ningo Prampram’s deputy Sam George has sued Mr. Mensah for making “false and malicious” accusations about him.
