Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is “a little concerned” about his players traveling to play for their countries amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Klopp will lose his international players after Sunday’s game against Aston Villa before they return for Premier League action on October 17.
“I don’t want to sound disrespectful about how other countries are doing,” the German said.
“But this is the place we know and we know how we’re dealing with it.”
Klopp added: “I am a little concerned because it is difficult to be in contact with all the AF [football associations] all over the world.
“I get it, I really understand how difficult the situation is, but it’s not exactly perfect, the information we get from certain AFs.”
Liverpool trio Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino have been selected to play for Brazil, who face a home game against Bolivia before traveling to Peru for the World Cup qualifiers.
The Reds’ first game after the international break is the Merseyside derby against Everton on October 17.
“We send the players and then we have another challenge because we have to play a Premier League game on Saturday after they have traveled from, maybe Peru, on Thursday or Friday,” Klopp said.
“You have to make sure you get the players home in the fastest and safest way and then we have to see how they are doing before trying to get a result on Saturday.”
England call for Henderson to win-win
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been called up for the England team, but Klopp says it is a “win-win situation” as the midfielder recovers from a knee injury.
Henderson has not played since coming off the break in the win over Chelsea on September 20.
“I was in close contact with [England manager] Gareth Southgate and it is clear that he will use the time with the national team to get in shape for the game, “Klopp added.
“Hendo had a normal preseason of four or five days before playing his first game for us because of the situation we were in.
“He played against Chelsea and has this small injury, which was not serious, but he’s been working on his physical things for a few days but now [it will be] more specific football with us and then the national team.
“He will have minutes for England, which then is a win-win situation and I’m very happy.”
