“Soccer is pursued by an increasing number of people in the world and in Ghana, it is a huge industry as well as being an important mass sport,” said the Deputy Director of Operations for the Ghana Tourism Authority.
“Soccer vitalizes the tourism sector and increases patronage of hotels, restaurants, transportation, nightclubs, visits to tourist attraction sites and the entire tourism value chain that invariably generates employment, increases government income and distributes income,” he added. .
PFAG Deputy Secretary General Solomon Torson was enthusiastic about the initiative, alluding that it feels good for all three bodies to come together for #Bringbackthelove.
“At PFAG we are happy that this association is officially announced. We are committed to the GFA’s #BringBackTheLove agenda and want to help bring the love of soccer back after soccer returns, ”he said.
“We are ready for our members to be available for the promotion of tourism and the development of football.
“However, I want to end by saying that we must not forget our past heroes who did so much to make this great nation proud,” he added.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who could not hide his enthusiasm, recognized the importance of the association and described football and tourism as bedfellows.
“I am pleased to be part of this innovative initiative that seeks to embrace soccer and tourism for a greater cause. President Simeon-Okraku said
“It is no secret that the sports industry has the passion of millions of people. We call them FANS – important stakeholders in any sporting activity.
“The fans drive the games; fans fuel the flame of passion in soccer and fans drive the marketability and commercialization of the game not only locally but also globally, ”he added.
For him, football and tourism are bedfellows and a proper symbiotic relationship between the two will project the country in a big way and create job opportunities for young people.
