The Chinese businessman who was allegedly recruited as Aframagya’s Nkosuohene (Head of Development) amid controversy and furor has denounced his title as Aframaga Nkosuohene.
Sun Qiang, who was known as Berima Kofi Ayeboafo, was locked up on September 5, this year in Forifori and after his enlistment, he brought many controversies that made people, especially Kwahus, both local and foreign, speak out.
The chief and elders of Kwahu Abetifi made things clear regarding the recent attacks on Nananom over the alleged hiring of a Chinese businessman as chief in Kwahu Abetifi.
At a press conference, Abetifi Dwanetoafohene, Nana Nyaakum Panyin llll, who spoke on behalf of Nananom of Kwahu Abetifi, made the following clarifications:
“No Chinese have been detained like Nkosuohene in Kwahu Abetifi and, as now, Abetifi has no Nkosuohene,” he said.
He said that the title of Nkosuohene was an honorary title that is often awarded to foreigners and indigenous people who distinguished themselves in Development Programs for the elevation of Citizens.
According to Nana Panyin III, the Kwahu Abetifi stool had not fooled a Chinese citizen like Nkosuohene, but a Nkosuohene in Aframagya, a village under the Abetifi Stool Lands.
” The chiefs and elders of Abetifi received the news that a Chinese investor in Aframagya, a village in the Afram plains under the lands of Abetifi’s stools, as Nkosuohene and the Odikro of Aframso was summoned to explain the circumstances that brought Nananom to such a ceremony since it was abhorrent to Kwahuman culture and traditions to carry the Chinese at shoulder height, ” he added.
“After the summons, Akyemfour Nana Asiedu Agyemang II, Abetifihene and their elders have” annulled “said settlement since the established processes and procedures were not followed.”
In reaction to the results that emanated from the press conference, Mr. Sun Qiang also met with the media on Tuesday and said that through his good deeds to ensure development in Aframagya communities under the Lands of Abetifi stool, the chiefs and the elders decided to place it as the Nkosuohene for the area.
He said that he did not bribe anyone to give him that title and that if the Kwahu natives weren’t happy about it, he had to denounce the title to protect his reputation.
He said the controversies will not prevent him from carrying out his development plans for the people of Aframagya and other surrounding communities in the Kwahu Afram plains.
Qiang said that he had plans to establish an ethanol factory in Aseyanso that would produce 10,000 tons of ethanol per year and hire 700 workers after its completion.
Therefore, he asked young people in the area to take advantage of the proposed ethanol factory to venture into the cultivation of cassava that would serve as raw material to feed the factory.
