Bernard Mornah loses the presidency of the PNC
Moses Dani Baah has dethroned Bernard Mornah as national president of the Peoples’ National Convention (PNC).
For the position of standard-bearer of the PNC, David Apasera has defeated the Reverend Samuel Adjei-Debrah and Sampson Asaki Awingobit.
The PNC held its congress on Wednesday [September 30, 2020] elect their standard bearer for the 2020 presidential elections and national executive officers to direct the party’s affairs for the next four years.

Graphic Online reporter, Joshua Koomson who covered the congress and was there when the results were compiled Wednesday night reported that, for the position of flag bearer, David Apasera won overwhelmingly with 1,315 votes to 789 votes for Samson Awingobit and 465 for Reverend Samuel Adjei-Debrah .
For the position of National President, Bernard Mornah obtained 1,266 votes compared to 1,297 votes for Moses Dani Baah.
Janet Asana Nabla emerged as PNC Secretary General with 1,312 votes against 230 votes for Kobe McDonald and 1,041 for Emmanuel Wilson Jr.
For the position of Vice President, Henry Haruna Asante won with 1729 votes against 635 for Omar Ahmed Bekure, 375 for Eugene TK Bashiru and 946 for Hajia Hajara Musah Ali.
Abass Nuhu was elected National Organizer with 1,124 votes.
His competitors Ntow Desmond Twumasi and Daniel Nii Noi obtained 773 and 639 votes respectively.
Hidaya Sungjun was chosen as the women’s organizer with 1,249 votes to 736 votes for Esther Osei Danso, 317 for Adam Johnson Patience Lamisi and 236 for Hummi Sinare.
Before the vote, Graphic Online’s Joshua Koomson He reported that Bernard Mornah urged delegates to choose people of character and dignity.

Joshua Bediako Koomson reported that the landslide victory against two other contenders, Mr. Apasera, an experienced, after having represented the people of Bolgatanga in Parliament for three successive terms (2000, 2004 and 2008) in his victory speech promised to bring life back to the PNC, which said that over the years it has suffered some setbacks.
“This is a great party, I joined in 1992 and received invitations to join other parties but I chose the PNC because when I look at Dr. Hilla Liman, who was overthrown for doing nothing wrong, I had to serve this party to honor your name, ”he said.
“I am going to work hard to let Ghanaians know that the PNC is a vehicle that can lead to Jubilee House. We are hitting the ground in fifth to be able to catch up with the others, “he added.
Congress form
In accordance with the preventive COVID-19 protocols, the congress, unlike what happened previously, was held simultaneously in all 16 regions of Ghana.
The PNC headquarters in Accra served as a collection center where the Electoral Commission (EC) collected and announced the results from the various regions.
The PNC, which follows the Nkrumah-Egala-Limann tradition, had originally planned to hold the national congress earlier in the Western Region in honor of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who is originally from the region.
The plan was rescinded due to restrictions on mass rallies.
Congressional Guidelines
More than 4,000 delegates from the 16 regions were expected to participate in the exercise in their respective regions.
The election ran from 9 am to 5 pm, under the auspices of the EC.
