Secretary General Ms Jemima Oware warned the public not to deal with intermediaries, also known as ‘Goro boys’, to obtain the services of the Registrar General’s Department (RGD).
She said the department had not hired the services of any agent or intermediary and therefore anyone who hired those people did so at their own risk.
“Don’t let any Goro boy intimidate you into paying money to any mobile money number. The department does not have a ‘momo’ number. If someone, claiming to be calling from our legal or audit unit, asks you to pay a commercial renewal fee or whatever through momo, it is false, “he said.
Ms. Oware gave the advice in an interview with journalists during the opening of the RGD office in Sunyani.
The new Sunyani office joins the other four existing offices in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi and Tamale.
He indicated that the department committed to decentralize its operations by opening offices in all the regional capitals of the country.
This, he noted, would help bring the RGD’s multifaceted services to the public’s doorstep to aid the country’s socio-economic development.
The Registrar General urged companies to file their annual returns and renew licenses with the department before the end of December 2020, adding that any organization that does not comply could be subject to an additional penalty.
Sunyani Municipal Executive Director (MCE), Ms. Justina Owusu-Banahene, pledged the assembly’s support to help the RGD execute its functions effectively, particularly to eliminate the activities of intermediaries in the registration and renewal of Business.
