Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with John Dramani Mahama
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has criticized former NDC president and standard-bearer John Dramani Mahama, describing him as a man without credibility or vision.
The Vice President called on Ghanaians to completely reject the candidacy of Mr. John Mahama but to vote en masse for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the December 7 elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said this while delivering a keynote address at a grand launch of ” Aspirants Unite for Victory ” held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Labadi, on Monday, September 28, 2020.
The hopefuls unite for victory
Aspirants Unite for Victory (AU4V) is a national movement of parliamentary hopefuls who lost in this year’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
The AU4V movement aims to foster unity among the defeated aspirants.
Members are primarily focused on keeping all NPP parliamentary seats, as well as winning new seats in the party’s constituency, and working together to secure a second term for President Nana Akufo-Addo and the ruling NPP.
The AU4V is led by MP for Nhyiaeso constituency, Hon. Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, MP for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, former MUSIGA chair and Asante Akyem South MP, Bice Osei Kuffour, known popularly like Obour and many others, all lost in the primaries.
Veep’s advice for Ghanaians
Dr. Bawumia reminded Ghanaians of Mr. Mahama’s incompetence by saying “we all know what the record was after 8 years of the NDC in government and we know what the record of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is right now. We know from the available data that John Mahama managed our economy incompetently. He was very incompetent … it’s a fact. “
He advised the public not to make a mistake to bring the former president to power because it will ruin the economy.
“Are we going to go back to incompetence? Are we really going to go back to this kind of incompetence?”
“Not only has he proven incompetent, he has also shown no credibility and no vision. Right! There is no credibility. He said the free SHS was a hoax; now he says he introduced it. Then he said if he had Ghc 2 billion, no would spend it on SHS for free; now he says he wants to expand it to the private sector. He introduced licensing exams for teachers, today he says he will abolish it. He abolished the allowance for teacher apprentices, today he will introduce it … He abolished the okada, today he is ; Where is the leadership? Where is the credibility? Where is the vision? It is not just about winning an election, you must have a vision. You must have a vision. It must be credible power that you are given the reins of this country to help people and he has not shown it. So, is that what we want to return to? ” he asked.
He directed Ghanaians to the best alternative emphasizing “most importantly, the alternative is great.” Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, that’s the alternative. The alternative is radically different. It is like night and day. With Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, we have a transformational leader. It is clear that we are not just doing business as usual; We are taking this country and talking about a new path, a new direction. ”
