President Nana Akufo-Addo has rescinded his decision to fire Sekyere East District Executive Director (DCE) Mary Boatemaa Marfo.
This comes just a week after she was fired for allegedly promising to reduce PNP votes in the Effiduase-Asokore constituency during the December 7 elections.
In the leaked audio, the DCE was heard in conversation with a party member threatening to frustrate voters on Election Day, which in turn would reduce the votes of the NPP and MP, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.
Subsequently, a letter written by the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kwasi Boateng Adjei to the Regional Minister of Ashanti, said that his dismissal would take effect immediately.
The regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, was tasked with supervising until a new DCE was appointed.
But in an interesting twist, a new letter signed by Adjei and widely shared online announced the new decision.
“I must inform you that His Excellency the President has rescinded the decision to revoke the appointment of the Hon. Mary Beatrice Marfo as Executive District Director of the East Sekyere District Assembly,” part of the letter read.
