The Ghana Police Service says it has launched investigations into the alleged attack on the Ho STC by people believed to be members of the West Togo secessionist group.

The Service said preliminary investigations revealed that 11 vehicles were parked at the scene at the time of the attack. One bus was completely burned and another slightly burned.

“The arrival of police and firefighters saved the situation,” they said.

A witness told Joy News that in the early hours of Tuesday, around 02:00 am, four men, suspected of being members of the western Togo separatist group, broke into Ho’s STC.

The attackers reportedly requested the keys to all vehicles parked there and started setting two minibuses on fire when the drivers failed to show them.

Police said their intervention and that of the Fire Service were necessary to defuse the situation.

Although the identities of the men who attacked the company are not yet known, the appearance of a “West Togoland” flag at the scene has raised suspicions that the act was perpetrated by its members.

The police, however, are urging calm in the Region when initiating investigations into the matter.

In addition, the Service urged the public to voluntarily provide information and security services to facilitate investigations.
