The Ghana Football Association and the National Sports Authority have been asked to institute agreed safety measures before football resumes on the scheduled date.

Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, Director of Health Promotions of the Ghana Health Service, has tasked the two institutions with implementing the security measures proposed by the government as conditions for the return of the game.

He told them not to wait until game day before implementing those measures.

Among the security protocols is the prohibition of singing and shouting in stadiums.

Dr Aboagye said that “jama”, which has become an integral part of Ghanaian football, will not be allowed in the playing venues.

Fans and officials will also need to wear nasal masks and practice social distancing in the stadium.

“The Sports Authority and the Ministry must ensure that the 25% capacity and social distancing protocols are complied with. They should provide facilities for hand washing and ensure that all protocols are adhered to. They shouldn’t wait for game time before doing these things. Just like we did at the airport, they should do these things too. We don’t want it to become a source of infection ”.

“Everyone who enters a stadium will have to wear masks and wash their hands. You will not sit next to a friend and no songs or noises will be allowed. These are the guidelines that we have developed. You can’t sing and shout in stadiums, ”he said.

Meanwhile, the FA has announced the weekend of November 13-15 as the return date for Ghana Football.

The FA in a statement said it is confident that the new season will be one of the best in Ghana’s football history and that football will not be a breeding ground for Covid-19.

Clubs are expected to resume training today and Kumasi Asante Kotoko players will be tested for the coronavirus today.
