Frank Lampard blames Alonso and Silva for first-half fiasco at West Brom
According to The Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has pointed the finger at Marcos Alonso, and Thiago Silva was responsible for our capitulation in the first half against West Brom.
The Blues entered the game as big favorites against the newly promoted team. However, they had to pay for their mistakes when the Baggies went 3-0 up at halftime.
Fortunately, the academy boys came to the fore in the second half to rescue us a point. While it has to be seen as a two-point drop, the result could have been worse.
Callum Robinson turned out to be a thorn in the side of Alonso and Silva. She hit the opener after the first gave the ball cheaply.
“Errors, clear errors. The first, Marcos directs him to the middle of the field for them in a transition.
Silva fouled for the second when Robinson once again hit a rare error to make the score 2-0. The Brazilian who started the game as captain had a difficult debut in the Premier League season.
“Thiago one is a mistake, he has been around long enough to know it and we will certainly give it to him in his first game.”
Robinson had impressed against us last season. The forward was on loan at Sheffield United and has now developed the habit of scoring against us.
Self-inflicted wounds!
Lampard has clearly said that these mistakes gave us a mountain to climb in the second half.
“If they make those mistakes, they give themselves a mountain to climb.”
After a loss to Liverpool, the Blues took just four points in the first three games. Although the situation is not ideal, there is still a lot to play for.

Lampard’s comments may seem harsh. But it is a valid assessment that those mistakes could have been avoided.
Silva and Alonso are experienced players who can and should do better. Hopefully the lesson is now learned.
