Barcelona made its official The league debut of the season on Sunday and was a hit like the Blaugrana dominated Villarreal en route to victory 4-0 at the Camp Nou. All the goals came in a brilliant first half that gave us a lot of encouraging signals and showed that Ronald Koeman may be building a pretty good team.
FIRST HALF
Villarreal was the best team to start the game. For three minutes. After that it was almost scary to see what the dominant Barça looked like against a pretty good team. the Blaugrana showed great intensity as they lost the ball and pressed very high throughout, and Griezmann’s four forwards, Coutinho, Ansu Fati and Messi constantly moved around the last third looking to create chances with clever passing and movement.
The chances began to arrive, and also the goals: Ansu Fati scored two very good ones in a span of four minutes, then won a penalty to give Messi the opportunity to score the third, which the captain did. And there was also an own goal from Pau Torres to make it 4-0 at halftime. But the goals weren’t the whole story: Barça were really dominant on both sides of the ball and put together a couple of really special attacking moves that we hadn’t seen in a long time.
At halftime, Barça not only won. They weren’t just playing well. They were dominant and it was a lot of fun to watch.
SECOND HALF
Villarreal had more ball to start the second half, as they were looking for a consolation goal and had some dangerous moments, but nothing that really bothered the Barça defense. the Blaugrana They weren’t as intense as in the first half, but they still managed to have some good moments in attack when Ansu Fati, Coutinho, Alba and Messi were involved.
But nothing really interesting happened and the final whistle came to end a solid opening victory for the Catalan giants. Barça was great in the first half, sailed in the second and is ready for the season.
