Kwami Sefa Kayi, the host of Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo,” says he will not react to rumors of his alleged resignation from the conglomerate despite the media.
On Thursday, September 24, reports emerged that Kokrokoo’s former host was resigning. Reports had claimed that the “President General”, as he was popularly known to his listeners, was displeased by the decision of the station’s management to resolve the boycott issues with Ghana’s largest opposition party, the Democratic National Congress. (NDC).
Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Officer, had said that the NDC had problems with the style and the entire production of the show. He claimed that the NDC was not fairly represented and consequently his party decided to boycott the program.
However, as the December elections are fast approaching and Peace FM’s management and staff want their coverage to be balanced, they have decided to resolve their differences with the NDC and get them back on board.
To this end, Fadda Dickson, CEO of Despite the Media, which owns the station, wrote a letter to the NDC asking them to let the sleeping dogs lie down and return to the program.
“The management of Pese a media recognizes responsibility for any misunderstandings that have arisen between us and the NDC in recent times. Therefore, we urge the NDC to put the sleeping dogs down and allow harmony to reign and return to the Kokrokoo show. As development agents and stakeholders, we can agree to disagree, all for the good of Ghana, our homeland, ”the letter said in part.
Sections of social media reacted by saying that Fadda Dickson’s decision had angered Sefa-Kayi and brought him to the brink of a pending resignation.
However, reacting to rumors of his resignation on Friday, Sefa Kayi, who had been silent on the matter, said: “When you recognize that you are working in a public space, you don’t have to react to everything thrown at you.”
He explained that he knew he would never get a one hundred percent approval rating and was therefore not concerned with rumors of his alleged resignation.
