The Ablekuma North constituency is located in the Greater Accra region.
According to electoral statistics from 1996 to 2016, the PNP consecutively wins the presidential and parliamentary elections, often with more than 60 percent of the total votes cast.
The incumbent Member of Parliament is Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie of the NPP.
However, her attempt to seek reelection failed as she was defeated by Sheila Bartels during the PNP parliamentary primaries.
Sheila Bartels, daughter of Kwamena Bartels will face Winifred Ashley of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections on December 7.
