The standard-bearer of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) and his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, suspended their campaign due to some anomalies in the new voter registration before the December 7 elections.
John Mahama has also ordered all party executives to halt all campaign activities to monitor the ongoing voter screening exercise by the Election Commission (EC) for three days, starting Friday, September 25.
In response to this on Peace FM’s La Plataforma program, Charles Owusu, Chief Operating Officer of the Forestry Commission questioned why the former president will suspend his campaign when not working with the Electoral Commission.
“Is that why you should suspend your campaign? Why should you suspend your campaign because some names are missing from the registry? Are you the one going to rectify or find the missing names? It’s not your job … you can cast a statement and that will be it, “he said.
According to him, “the missing record was just a cover story and the only reason the campaign was suspended was because things were not going as planned (NDC).”
