Ghana’s Duke Micah failed in his bid to clinch the WBO bantamweight title after losing by third-round TKO against Filipino John Riel Casimero.

Micah started the fight well using his jab, but seemed to fizzle out physically as the fight progressed.

The Ghanaian fell in the second round, but got to his feet in time to watch the round despite enduring Casimero’s punishment for nearly a minute.

The 29-year-old, who prior to this fight had 24-0-19KOs, was checked by the ring doctor and was fit to continue the fight, but was unable to see the third round when champion Casimero finished it. with an uppercut to extend his knockout streak to six of six fights.

The loss means that Ghana is likely to end 2020 without a world title after similar finals to 2019 and 2018 when Richard Commey and Isaac Dogboe lost the IBF lightweight and WBO super bantamweight titles to Teofimo López and Emmanuel Navarrete, respectively.
