Young Ghanaian Mohammed Kudus provided crucial assistance to Ajax on Saturday to help the club secure a 2-1 win against Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The former FC Nordsjaelland poster boy made his Eredivisie debut last weekend against KRC Waalwijk, where he went on to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Today, Kudus deservedly earned a starting role and played a key role in Ajax’s home win against their opponent from Matchday 3 of the 2020/2021 Eredivisie season that recently started.
On the day, Quincy Promes opened the scoring for the Amsterdam-based club in the 21st minute after being assisted by Noussair Mazraoui.
With the home team continuing to dominate, they will then be reduced to 10 men in the final minutes of the first half when Edson Alvarez received the red card.
After the break, Vitesse Arnhem took advantage of the scored men’s advantage to restore parity through a goal from Riechedly Bazoer at 56th minute.
Later in the game, Mohammed Kudus showed his creativity and helped his summer teammate Antony score to restore Ajax’s lead.
The throbbing encounter that ensued from there produced no goals with the home side holding on to beat Vitesse 2-1 at the end of 90 minutes at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
