Barcelona and Roma are interested in Chelsea’s outcast Antonio Rudiger
According to the German publication kicker (h / t Daily Mail), Barcelona and Rome are controlling Chelsea outcast Antonio Rudiger.
The 27-year-old was not selected to the Chelsea squad for the Carabao Cup third round match against Barnsley. The defender has been left out of the squad of the day for two consecutive games.
With the arrival of Thiago Silva, Rudiger is effectively the fifth-pick center-back at Stamford Bridge.
Rudiger’s change of fortune has come a few weeks after it looked like he was going to receive a contract extension. His situation has alerted both Barcelona and Roma, who are eager to sign him.
They are not the only teams in the fray. Ligue 1 champions PSG are also interested in taking the player on loan throughout the season.
Despite falling into Chelsea’s pecking order, Rudiger is held in high esteem across the continent.
The German international joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017. While he has been a regular player, injuries and inconsistency have seen him struggle.
The player, for his part, really wants to play regularly. With the coming of the Euro next summer, he cannot afford to play a secondary role at club level this season.
With Fabrizio Romano confirming As the Blues are eager to keep Fikayo Tomori at the club, it looks like Rudiger will be the one on loan.
