The Education Ministry says a report has been submitted on how schools will resume and continue with the remainder of the 2020/21 academic year.

A committee headed by the former Minister of Education, Prof. Dominic Fobih, presented their report to the Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

In a statement by the minister’s press secretary, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, he said that the report and its recommendations have been well received by the education minister.

Schools closed in March after Covid-19 visited the country’s shores.

President Akufo-Addo, who announced this in his second update to the nation on the Covid-19 pandemic, said the measure was to reduce the spread of the virus in the country.

Subsequently, a committee was created to deliberate on the safe reopening of schools and how schools will continue with the remainder of the 2020/21 academic year.

The committee has finally presented its findings and recommendations to the Ministry of Education and is awaiting government approval.

The President and his advisers are expected to study the report together with their recommendations and then issue relevant directives.

Mr. Boateng in the statement further stated that Dr. Prempeh thanked the committee members for their hard work and diligence and said that the report will be sent to the chair before stakeholders fully engage on the implementation of the decision. by the president.

In the meantime, the school was opened for JHS, SHS and higher education seniors to return and complete their final exams.

Form 2 JHS and SHS students are also expected to return in October and close their 2019/20 academic year.
