Asante Kotoko Executive Director Nana Yaw Amponsah has said that the club’s management wants to turn players into celebrities.
He believes that players can have a good brand for Ghanaians to celebrate, just as musicians, actors, and entertainment personalities do.
“My Management is determined to qualify Kotoko players as celebrities like movie stars and musicians, and this means that where they live, where they eat and their outfits must evolve,” she said in an interview with Kumasi-based Opemsuo FM. .
“If an actor from Kumawood is labeled as a celebrity, why can’t a player from Kotoko be on the same label? Our players must get the backing of the big brands, “he added.
Amponsah was appointed in August. Her ambition is to make the club one of the largest on the continent.
According to Amponsah, who contested the 2019 Ghana Football Association (GFA), the club is larger than the country’s two main political parties, the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He appointed his management team last week. They will work together for the next three years.
