President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated a 19-member North West Region Chiefs House in Sefwi-Wiawso to begin his three-day tour of the Region.
Members are from the traditional areas of Anwhiaso, Chirano, Bekwai, Wiawso and Suaman.
The President congratulated the members and said that the creation of the Region was in fulfillment of the promise of the 2016 Manifesto of the New Patriotic Party (PNP).
“I am confident that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, Supreme Chief of Anwhiaso Traditional Area, Kwasi Bumagamah II, Supreme Chief of Wiawso, and Nana Okogyeman Gyambra IV, Supreme Chief of Chirano and other members will perform their duties effectively,” he said.
The president announced that the government has increased the allocation for chiefs by 100 percent as promised in the 2016 Party Manifesto.
He said that the Ministry of Chiefs and Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the National House of Chiefs, has started the process to digitize records in the Chamber and also register chiefs.
The government had started 400 projects in the region, of which 107 had been completed and the rest in various stages of completion, he said.
President Akufo-Addo mentioned education, health, water and sanitation as the topics addressed so far.
He called on residents to consider what the government has done in the last four years and to vote en masse for him and the party’s parliamentary candidates to do more for the North West Region.
Mr. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, the regional minister, said chiefs and people owed the president much gratitude for the creation of the North West Region.
