We will not accept a faulty choice – Mahama

Democratic National Congress (NDC) standard-bearer John Mahama has said the party will not accept a flawed election in the December 7 election.

In statements to the press about the integrity of the provisional electoral roll, the former president insisted on waiting for free, fair and impeccable elections, so the party would not look at or ignore its civil responsibilities.

“We will not allow the EC, either due to bad intentions or sheer incompetence, until it fulfills the mandate of the people in the December 7 elections.

In June this year, the NDC government disagreed with the Election Commission’s decision to compile a new voter register.

Mahama warned the Electoral Commissioner that the party will not accept the results of the next elections if things are not done as they should.

He said Jean Mensa will be to blame if the country is thrown into chaos due to electoral disagreements.

During a campaign tour in the Bono region on Tuesday, Mahama called off his campaign tour on Tuesday due to the many anomalies in the provisional voter registration and display process.

Also commenting on the development, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, affirmed that a flawed election is one in which “the electoral commission publicly acknowledges the errors and does not correct the error and proceeds to announce the elections as credible.”

“When a man becomes a woman in a registry it is a recipe for chaos on Election Day,” he added.

John Mahama advised the EC to take immediate action to rectify and sanitize the registry and to display it to the voting public and all interested parties to verify their details in the voter registry before it is finalized.
