The Electoral Commission (EC) has said that it will reopen the voter registration exercise on Thursday, October 1, 2020.
This comes as a result of criticism about the initial exercise that ended last month, since the exhibition of the electoral disc is currently underway.
The EC called an IPAC meeting on Thursday after the opposition NDC and other stakeholders described some irregularities that they believe will not look good to the process if they are allowed to participate in the upcoming elections without rectification.
According to a statement released by the Commission, the one-day event “will give the opportunity to those who have reached the age of eighteen (18) and to Citizens who for one reason or another could not register in the recently completed Exercise Register.”
The EC provisionally registered some 16 million people at the end of the biometric voter registration exercise that ended on August 9, 2020.
Registration will take place at the district offices of the Election Commission throughout the country from 7 am to 6 pm.
