Police Inspector General James Oppong-Buanuh has assured Ghanaians of impartial, truthful and professional policing before, during and after the December elections.

He said that ensuring peace before, during and after the December elections was a collective responsibility, of which the police are willing to do their part.

He called on the public to do the same to ensure a peaceful and uneventful election.

Oppong-Buanuh said this when he visited the Western Regional Police command to assess their readiness for the December elections.

The IGP and its entourage witnessed a simulation exercise in which the police showed their readiness to tackle a situation in which a collection center, a voting center and EC officials are attacked and kidnapped by ‘Bandits’.

Oppong-Buanuh said that the police were ready to stop all violent cases that might occur during the elections and called on the media to help the police to achieve this by educating the public not to commit violent acts before, during and after December. center.

He said the police would be impartial and provide security to all eligible voters visiting polling stations.

The IGP called on stakeholders to cooperate and support the police so that they can carry out their mandate.

Mr. Oppong-Buanuh called on the media in particular to collaborate with the police to educate the public against violent acts, emphasizing that violence does not pay.

He said that on voting day, it would not only be the police that would provide security, but other security agencies, such as the Fire Service, Immigration Service, Prisons and the Army would also provide security and asked the public to grant them the same. cooperation and cordiality.
