The Electoral Commission (EC) has denied claims that the Electoral Management Body is carrying out an agenda to remove the names of supporters and sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the voter registry.
The EC is asking the general public to ignore the allegations, emphasizing that they are false.
“The Commission, from the beginning of compiling the Voter Registry, has lived up to its motto: Equity, Transparency and Accountability. In fact, at each point, we have provided factual, accurate and evidence-based information to our stakeholders on voter statistics by region, district, gender, age.
among others. To date, all interested Ghanaians have information on the number of people who registered in the recently concluded voter registration exercise based on the information we provided.
“It is a paradox, therefore, to suggest that the same Commission now seeks to remove people from the Voter Registry. Had that been the Commission’s agenda, it would not have provided detailed information to Interested Parties throughout the Registration process. We assure the General Public that these allegations are unfounded, ”reads a statement from the Electoral Commission.
