Less than 72 hours after the alleged fight between presidential staff member Charles Bissue and Tarkwa-Nsuem MP George Mireku Duker, images of the former with his swollen face hit social media.
The trending photos also show Mr. Bissue with a bloody eye that is forcibly opened for examination.
JoyNews sources say that the fight between the two ruling politicians of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) occurred at the Kingston Hotel in Takoradi during a workshop for regional executives and parliamentary candidates.
According to sources, Mr. Mireku Duker and Charles Bissue have not gotten along since the latter allegedly endorsed an independent candidate over the incumbent during the parliamentary primaries.
The report further indicates that, during the meeting, there was a misunderstanding between the MP and the party’s regional executive.
Eyewitnesses say that Mr. Bissue, who is also the Regional Party Secretary, amid the confusion, grabbed Mr. Duker’s hands and bit him several times, causing the MP to bleed profusely.
The development is believed to have led to the exchange of blows between the two.
Although Mr. Bissue refused to speak to reporters about the fight, the deputy has confirmed the incident.
