Asante Kotoko: Ghana giants move closer to partnering with Premier League club

The Porcupine Warriors have revealed an imminent collaboration agreement with a club from England

Ghana’s Premier League (GPL) team Asante Kotoko is about to seal a partnership deal with a top-notch English team, as revealed by new Porcupine Warriors CEO Nana Kwame Amponsah.

The announcement was made when the 23-time Ghana champions held a press conference to introduce their new management team on Monday.

The Kumasi-based team already has an existing partnership with former Premier League team Sunderland, the collaboration agreement signed in 2011.

“We are 90 per cent through signing a partnership agreement with an English Premiership team. We want to connect our club to them so that we can have the replica, if not the same, of everything they have here.” Amponsah said in his update on Recent and New Club Events in Kumasi.

“My concern is not what should have been done before, but it was not. My concern is to build a solid foundation for the future.

“In just under three months, we have, in principle, achieved four major sponsorships, some larger than we have now.

“The Board has approved that we obtain a state-of-the-art training facility at Adako Jachie in the next three months.

“The club has donated 5000 GHC [€733] to help the victims of [Saturday’s] Outside of accident they are receiving treatment at the hospital.

“I thank the Board of Directors for giving me a free hand to appoint my management team.”

Amponsah, a contestant in the 2019 Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential election, was appointed CEO of Kotoko in August.

He replaced GFA Executive Council member George Amoakoh, who passed to King Faisal.

New leadership goals include leading the Porcupine Warriors to GPL title glory for the first time since 2014, guiding the club’s continental success for the first time since 1983, and qualifying for the GPL Club World Cup. FIFA.

“I have absolute confidence in coach Maxwell Konadu. I have been a scout for years, and so I know the kind of support I need to give our coaching team to excel,” added Amponsah.

“We are going to keep 30 players; four goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders, four forwards, four youth players and two outstanding players.”

Kotoko’s new management team includes former GFA Deputy General Secretary Emmanuel Dasoberi (Chief Operating and Administrative Officer), Eric Twum (Chief Commercial Officer), Thoma Sevordzi (Chief Financial Officer), Dentaa Amoateng (Diaspora and International Relations), Akua Pokuaa Kwarteng (Legal Director – Domestic), Nilo Effori (Legal Officer – International) and David Obeng Nyarko (Special Assistant to the CEO).
