The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rated the government led by Akufo-Addo with 14.28% in fulfilling its promises of the 2016 manifesto to the Eastern Region.
According to them, President Akufo-Addo and the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) have failed the Eastern Region, fulfilling only a fraction of the many promises made to the region.
“Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP have unfortunately failed the ‘εfie nyε’ of the Eastern Region. And she has only fulfilled or partially fulfilled only a paltry 14.28% (3 out of 21) of the promises they made to the people of the Eastern Region in the 2016 elections, ”they said.
According to the Eastern Region NDC Secretariat, of the 3 projects attributed to the national phase-out plan, only one had been fully implemented. The others were either still in progress or partially delivered.
They described the fulfillment of the promises as “abysmal”, adding that the deployment of the promises was “discriminatory and selectively targeted to benefit the few in the Eastern Region, as” large parts of the region have been neglected. “
His claim is to support the claim that the former Mahama-led administration had a superior record of achievement in the Eastern Region compared to the “negligible” performance of the Akufo-Addo government.
In this regard, they noted that President John Dramani Mahama distributed development equitably within the eastern region and therefore has a “superior record of achievement in the eastern region.”
These comments were made in the first edition of the series “Eastern: ‘εfie nyε'” by the Communications Office of the National Democratic Congress, Eastern Region, on Tuesday.
They also alleged that most of the projects started under the Mahama government that were neglected by the NPP have seen work suddenly resume as the country nears the December elections.
They described the renewed interest in the projects as a NPP ‘Sakawa’ tactic to get the people of the Eastern Region to vote for them in power; a move that, according to the NDC, will not produce any positive results for the NPP.
“People in the eastern region call these roads ‘Sakawa’ campaign projects. In fact, ‘Sakawa’ projects that are only meant to trick you into getting votes. But they are wide awake and have vowed to punish Nana Akufo-Addo for taking them for granted for over three and a half years since 2017; only to surface a few months to elections with deceptive projects. It is very clear that, ‘Eastern: εfie nyε’! ”Stated the NDC.
According to them, should the NDC be voted into office, they will ensure that the Eastern Region receives a fair share of the national pie by equitably distributing John Mahama’s $ 10 billion for the Big Push Infrastructure Plan.
“We trust John Mahama to offer and create opportunities for all due to his huge track record of infrastructure,” they emphasized.
Among other things, the Eastern Region NDC Secretariat stated that they trust the upcoming Mahama-led Administration to bring much needed infrastructure development to the region as well as create 1 million jobs for youth in the region and the country in general.
