Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, running mate of the presidential candidate of the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC), has described her nomination as a call to the duty of all women to ensure success.
Thus, she has implored the women of Ghana to rise above partisan politics and consider their ability to apply pragmatic policies to redeem the nation.
Therefore, they should join her for the NDC’s victory in the December elections.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, who was interacting with identifiable women’s groups and merchants in Efutu and Abura Market as part of her six-day tour to the Central Region, praised the NDC for the bold decision to choose her as a running mate.
“John Mahama and the NDC have given women due recognition and show that we are very special and important,” he added.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang said that the women had been elevated and given legitimate recognition in the political space with her nomination.
“If you call a woman, you’ve called the whole family. Indeed, this is a call for all of us, children, young and old, all inclusive. It is a wake-up call for all of us to be united and help change the face of development in this Country, ”she said.
He assured Ghanaians, particularly women, that their hopes would translate into productive activities for the benefit of all if they were approved.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang called on political parties to turn to development and desist from policies of insult, division and discrimination, which retard growth and development.
He said that the NDC’s “People’s Manifesto” was very inclusive and recognized the challenges of all Ghanaians and had outlined solutions for them.
Professor Opoku-Ayemang also interacted with the Ewe community in Duakor, fishermen and fishmongers in Elmina and Brofoyedur in Cape Coast, and traders and commercial drivers in Abura on the first day of his tour.
He received an enthusiastic welcome in all places visited amid chants, drums and cheers from party supporters, who were full of optimism that Professor Opoku-Agyemang could help the party win the December 7 general election.
