The standard-bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) mocked the Electoral Commission (EC) led by Jean Mensa and described the institution as “incompetent.”

John Mahama in his speech in the Bono Region on Monday said that the Commission has allowed itself to become a tool for the government to implement its diabolical agenda.

This, he said, is causing much anarchy and disorder in the country.

“Many evils are occurring; the incompetence of this CE is legendary. We have held elections in this country, we have conducted voter registrations in this country, but we have never seen a situation where there is so much chaos and disorder in an electoral process.

“It has the potential to create a crisis in our country. Today we do not know if we are going to have a credible record, because we do not have confidence in the process that is being carried out. There is too much anarchy and disorder, ”he said.

According to him, too many anomalies are detected in the current exhibition exercise, hence the need for him to address the issue.

“A voter registry is the most important document in any election if the voter registry is not credible or full of errors; makes it difficult to have free, fair and transparent elections “

John Mahama also asked international election observers to take an interest in what is happening in Ghana and to monitor the electoral process until the election.

However, he apologized to the constituency and secured his return after the issue was raised.

He stated that the party has yet to make a major statement on the matter in due time.
