The CEO said this in an interview with Bloomberg Surveillance Live Interview, which sought to find out how some changes in the telecommunications sector include; the COVID-19 outbreak had affected the company’s operations and services to consumers.

Ms Obo-Nai, responding to a question about how the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana had affected the company’s operations and demand for its services, said that the company had witnessed an increase in demand for infrastructure. network and connectivity.

“We have seen that data traffic has increased by 50 percent, so we have had to expand the capacity to handle it as much as possible,” he added.

He said that Vodafone, as part of efforts to meet consumer needs, embarked on a journey to drive digital adoption and help establish opportunities for the education and healthcare sectors and small and medium-sized businesses.

It also further increased digital wireless connectivity, enabled cashless payments, and delivered financial services through its mobile money platform.

Ms Obo-Nai said that Vodafone Ghana had seen a 40 percent increase in the number of active customers on its mobile money platform since the COVID-19 outbreak, and believed it was a good transformation as it was more safe and better. to pay bills and wages.

He said the government partnered with telecommunications companies and the Ghana Electricity Company to bring fiber access to communities and schools, and said it was a good effort to ensure that all customers enjoyed the same services.

The CEO said that bringing Vodafone under the Vodacom umbrella had not limited the company’s comprehensive operations, however, it had allowed the two entities to share best practices and create synergies through capitalization systems to promote better services.
