The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has questioned the authenticity of the 2020 election promises made by the standard-bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the PNP, Mahama’s promises are not consistent with his previous position on the issues on which he had been making promises, and that he is only making those promises to attract voters.

Speaking at the weekly press conference of the nuclear power plant in Accra on Monday, September 21, 2020, Managing Director of the State Transportation Company (STC) Nana Akomea, questioned what could have changed that suddenly Mr. Mahama now he has changed his positions on the issues. strongly opposed in the 2016 elections.

He said that Mr. Mahama, for example, opposed free secondary education, paying allowances for teachers and nurses and also banned the operation of ‘okada’, but now he wants to give the green light to all of them.

He said that Mahama’s promises lacked credibility because the issues he promised to fulfill cannot be trusted because when he had the opportunity to lead the country, he did not implement any of the promises he had made.

“There are many inconsistencies in what Mr. Mahama promises,” Nana Akomea said, asking, “Where is the credibility?”

According to him, Mahama, during his tenure as president, warned Ghanaians to be careful about the promises made by people who are not in government because they do not speak in relation to the realities on the ground.

He pointed out that Ghanaians need to be careful about the promises Mahama has made because he is not speaking in relation to reality.
