The first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, made her way through the Greater Accra region to the Weija-Gbawe constituency, calling on citizens to keep the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) in power.
Addressing various meetings in the constituency, Ms. Akufo-Addo said that President Akufo-Addo deserves a second term in office to do more for the people of Ghana.
“You are all witnesses to the good works of my husband, President Akufo-Addo, so come on December 7, let’s all go to the voting tables and vote for the PNP government,” he said.
He added that the PNP government is determined to continue its life-changing programs such as Free SHS and Planting for Food and Jobs.
“Wherever we go, we must tell everyone that it takes four more years for Nana,” he said.
Ms. Akufo-Addo further noted that the NPP government had also undertaken some projects in the Weija-Gbawe constituency.
The projects, he said, included the construction of a model upper secondary school and a modern community-based health planning and service (CHPS) complex with staff accommodation, all of which were underway.
He also mentioned the construction of a new kindergarten block in Weija, a new sanitary facility at Weija Presbyterian School, adding that a motorized steel bridge would soon begin connecting the old and new Weija communities.
He also pledged continued support from the Rebecca Foundation for women and children, while the health sector receives great support with medical supplies and other essential services.
However, he called for unity and peaceful coexistence between the peoples of the Weija and Gbawe communities.
At Gbawe Palace, Nii Laryea Faamlinte, head of Gbawe, praised the PNP government for doing so much for its people, stating that “indeed, the PNP government has done well in this constituency, and I am very happy with the level of development in my area ”.
However, he expressed concern about the activities of the land guards who were supposedly coming from Weija to cause fear and panic in Gbawe and called on the state to intervene.
The First Lady and her entourage also visited the Chief of Weija, the Wiaboman community and the Zongo community in Mallam.
She was accompanied on the tour by the Weija-Gbawe constituency deputy, Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah, and the area municipal executive director, Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor.
