The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) has hailed Dr. Herbert Henry Lartey as its standard-bearer for the 2020 presidential elections.

Ghana goes to the polls to elect the next President of the Republic on December 7. The Ghana Election Commission has already set the registration fee for each presidential candidate at ¢ 100,000 GH.

The 100% increase in the filing fee from GH ¢ 500,000 in 2016 to GH ¢ 100,0000, has received backlash from the NDC, CPP, CDD-Ghana and many who are of the opinion that the phenomenon could be a potential replication. motives of corruption and attempts to weaken minority parties.

But, speaking on the sidelines of the 6th National Congress of GCPP Delegates in Accra, the standard bearer for the third time, Dr. Henry Lartey, said that his party is capable and ready to pay the presentation fee of ¢ 100,000 GH.

“I’m not surprised, I knew the EC was going to go up, I can’t force the EC to lower it. If the EC says we should pay ¢ 100,000 GH, we will pay ¢ 100,000 GH, this is simple. EC has even been generous up to a point with regard to the presentation fee of a parliamentary candidate, so if they say that we must pay ¢ 100,000 GH, we will pay ¢ 100,000 GH ”, he said.

The GCPP leader promised to “establish the University of Agriculture at Techiman in the Eastern Bono Region while engaging in solar energy production in the energy area.”

Meanwhile, the GCPP has also backed the legalization of ‘Okada’ but wants the bikes to be made in Ghana.

GCPP Secretary General, Citizen Ato Dadzie, said: “If we want to legalize Okada, we must also make motorcycles in Ghana, in addition to our domestication policy to eat what we grow and grow what we eat. Regarding our industrialization agenda, It is not just a district, a factory, but rather a constituency, a factory, we will establish 275 factories, if we are elected.

According to Dadzie, GCPP “will introduce school farms and establish the Pan African University of Solar Energy to champion the renewable energy agenda. We will make solar energy the cornerstone of Ghana’s economy.”

The GCPP National Executives were also acclaimed and announced by the Electoral Commission.
