Founder and leader of Perez Chapel International, Bishop Charles Agyinasare has urged the current president of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, to learn from her predecessors in order to effectively handle the country’s upcoming elections fairly .
The bishop spoke about the way forward on how the EC president can win the trust of the people of Ghana and also carry out peaceful and credible elections on December 7, 2020, which is just three months from the end.
“I think the EC can learn from Afari Gyan, who was appointed by Rawlings, but Afari Gyan was able to oversee an election that brought Kufuor and the PNP to power” in 2001. Bishop Agyinasare said this in an interview with Joy News monitored by MyNewsGH .com.
The international preacher went on to say that, “even the previous EC president, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, although appointed by the NDC, brought the PNP to power and therefore the current EC president, Jean Mensa, should follow the example of these people and try to do the best you can.
The bishop’s open warning comes in response to heated discussion among some Ghanaians, especially the opposition NDC, that the current commissioner is planning to rig the 2020 elections in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) and its leader, President Nana. Addo Dankwa Akufo. Addo who appointed her to the position.
Bishop Agyinasare wants Jean Mensa to leave a legacy of “being a very neutral referee and showing people that he is not a puppet and when he does, his name would go into our history books.”
He described the upcoming elections as “historic elections.”
