President Akufo-Addo has indicated that cinemas, pubs and beaches will remain closed as part of the restrictions adopted to contain the Coronavirus.
He made this statement during his seventeenth speech to the nation on the measures established by the government to combat Covid-19.
“The pubs and cinemas on the beaches will be closed until further notice. All other institutions that have received authorization to operate must continue to do so in strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols, “said President Akufo-Addo.
These places have been closed since the country was closed in March.
Meanwhile, the president announced that competitive national soccer may resume on Friday, October 30. Matches, however, must be played without spectators.
Other restrictions that have been lifted include churches and vehicles, which can now operate at full capacity with strict adherence to security protocols.
Meanwhile, the Action Group of the National Film Authority, in August, began to press for a relaxation or total lifting of restrictions on cinemas.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, a member of the Cosby Bikpe group said that easing of restrictions is crucial to the recovery of the film industry.
“It has been very difficult for us to rebuild film culture again in Ghana. We are trying to build that now. “
“The longer we keep cinemas closed during these coronavirus days, the more difficult the growth of film culture will be.”
The group has urged the government to help the industry find ways to adapt to the new normal and grow film culture again.
