Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the first president of Ghana
Mahama appeals to Ghanaians to return him to power in message to mark Nkrumah’s birthday
The standard-bearer of the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC), in a message to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, reiterated his call for Ghanaians to vote for him on December 7, 2020.
In the message, the former president recognized Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the founder of Ghana and said that the first president of Ghana deserves high praise for the role he played in the fight for Ghana’s independence.
“Tomorrow, Monday, September 21, marks the birthday of the founder and first president of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He was an iconic figure in the struggle for independence and liberation in many African countries.
“Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was an inspiration to many countries around the world. On this day, I want to congratulate him on his tireless and monumental contribution to the history of our nation, ”said the NDC flag bearer in his tribute to mark Nkrumah’s birthday.
He then called on Ghanaians to read between the lines and choose the NDC during the upcoming elections.
“The Akufo-Addo government has no antecedents; not in health, we build hospitals, they don’t have any; not in tertiary education, we build universities, they don’t have; not in the roads sector, we build roads, they have declared a year of roads without roads; not in the fight against corruption, we fight corruption head on; President Akufo-Addo fights against those who fight against corruption in his government. The case of Auditor General Daniel Domelevo is proof that corruption is fighting the president, ”he wrote.

BE CAREFUL, BE DARE, AND HAVE HOPE! A MESSAGE FROM JOHN MAHAMA
Tomorrow, Monday, September 21, marks the birthday of the founder and first president of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He was an iconic figure in the struggle for independence and liberation in many African countries.
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was an inspiration to many countries around the world. On this day, I want to congratulate you on your tireless and monumental contribution to our nation’s history.
Finally, I present myself before you this morning with a triple invitation: be careful, be brave and have hope!
Be careful when reading articles on social media, because sadly today we live in the age of fake news. Now it is too easy to take something false as true. Sometimes there is a big difference between what someone actually did and what people are led to believe they did.
They say, for example, that during my first term as president I was a bad manager of our economy. Some of you may have been led to believe this false story. However, when you look at the data, things look different.
In 2012, the size of the Ghanaian economy was $ 41.6 billion. In 2016, under my term as president, it was $ 54.5 billion, a nominal change of $ 13 billion in 4 years.
This year 2020, under the supervision of Akufo-Addo as president, Ghana’s economy is projected to be $ 66 billion, which means that the PNP government in four years changed the size of the economy by 11,000. millions of dollars; note in 4 years; $ 13 billion under my supervision and $ 11 billion under NPP. This is what the data says and it is verifiable. You can examine the data for yourself.
Meanwhile, this government has borrowed GH ¢ 140 billion against GH ¢ 56 billion during my presidency.

That is why I invite you to be cautious.
But I also invite you to be brave. Imagine, for example, that today Ghana had the digital infrastructure that allows people to easily work from home, as they do in countries like South Korea or Denmark. The Covid-19 pandemic would certainly have had a lesser impact on our economy.
Imagine a Ghana where all of this is possible, where new kinds of services and new kinds of jobs enable people to lead a decent life. Imagine a Ghana of the 21st century! If you do, you will no longer settle for “good enough.” Instead, I would be calling for a change in the way our country is run.
So I say to you: have hope!
Our Manifesto, The People’s Manifesto, promises that the new NDC government will help one million young Ghanaians to become coders and programmers, to become the backbone of the new economy that we will build together for the benefit of all.
With a million young programmers and a strong digital infrastructure, we will bridge the gap between our Ghana and the more advanced countries much sooner than you think now. Have hope!
And believe this hope is real! Because together with NDC we have already delivered. And if we deliver once, we can deliver again.
So, my brothers, be cautious, be brave and have hope. I guarantee that the next NDC government will provide you with a clear and honest opportunity to live a dignified life!
Be careful, be bold, and be hopeful!
