Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on Kieran Tierney after the defender was injured in warm-up on Saturday night.

The Scotsman was ready to start against West Ham, but was pulled from the XI before a ball was kicked.

During the pregame warm-up, Tierney sensed something and immediately left the field.

In his place came Sead Kolasniac but had no detrimental effect on the result.

Arsenal emerged the 2-1 winners after a late goal from Eddie Nketiah to make two wins out of two.

But fans were concerned about the state of Tierney, who had an injury-ravaged season last year and there are fears that history will repeat itself.

However, Arteta has moved to quell those fears after insisting that the former Celtic star is fine.

He said, “Kieran is fine. He had a little muscle ache in recent days.

“He tried today and worked on the warm-up, but he wasn’t comfortable today.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have been deprived of title glory for a while, but things could be turning as a new Arsenal team chart a course for success.

“We thought he was going to be fit, but during the warm-up, in the last 10 minutes, he said he wasn’t feeling well.

“We had a decision to make. We were prepared just in case and Kola came in and had a good game.”

The Gunners initially took the lead through Alexandre Lacazette before Michail Antonio tied at the top of halftime.

Although they lacked the same fervor with which they played against Fulham, Arsenal left the game with three points.

With five minutes to go, Nketiah grabbed the winner and Arteta was over the moon.

“What I like is the approach that the guys had in the last 25 minutes where I could see that they were a little down and then they picked it up,” Arteta said.

“Probably a few months ago we would have drawn or lost that game and today we won it.

“In the end you have to find a way because there will be games like this throughout the season.”
