Woodward’s strategy fails because Dortmund ‘plan to raise’ Jadon Sancho’s price

Manchester United face the increasingly likely prospect of missing out on Jadon Sancho with Borussia Dortmund ready to take an even tougher transfer stance.

The transfer saga that has been in the headlines all summer has shown little sign of resolution.

Borussia Dortmund may well have expected that their August 10 deadline would have seen the end of the speculation. However, even after club officials stated that Sancho would not be sold this summer, the conversation has continued.

As things stand, Sancho remains United’s number one target. They remain “hopeful” to secure their transfer before the window closes on October 5. In fact, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keeping the faith in the midst of this claim from a well connected journalist.

Dortmund, however, have been firm in their belief that Sancho will not be allowed to leave cheaply. They have insisted that it will not go for a penny less than the sale price of 120 million euros. That £ 108 million fee would represent a transfer record for United.

However, the executive vice president of United Ed Woodward is believed to consider the fee to be too high.

Furthermore, the United boss reportedly hoped that with the time out of the transfer window, Dortmund’s stance would soften.

There was renewed hope for United last week when the Telegraph He claimed that the clubs had agreed to end their “impasse on agents’ fees and salaries.”

Despite that “breakthrough”, however, a deal for the England winger seems more distant than ever.

That’s after Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard claimed Dortmund could raise Sancho’s asking price.

He tweeted: “I have been told today that there is no prospect that #bvb will lower the valuation of Jadon Sancho, which is believed to be around 120 million euros, and there is even the possibility that they will ask for more.

“As I’ve said for weeks, if #mufc’s strategy is to pressure Dortmund, it’s failing.”

Earlier this week, Sky Sports News Reporter Dharmesh Sheth says United’s potential deal for Sancho seemed ‘unlikely’.

“Never say never. But now we understand that it is more unlikely than probable. Manchester United are not willing to reach the 108 million pound valuation that Borussia Dortmund has,” Sheth said.

“The reason I say never say never is because even though United has made it clear that they are looking for alternatives. The likes of Douglas Costa at Juventus and Ivan Perisic at Inter Milan and Kingsley Coman.

“The only thing that has not been seen is that they no longer persecute Sancho. That has not been transmitted to us in any way. They have said that they are looking for alternatives, but they have not said that they have given up on Sancho ”.

Also Sky reporter James Cooper also insists United will not crack at the last minute and agree to pay Dortmund’s sale price.

“There are games involved in transfers,” Cooper said. Sky Sports News.

“Manchester United have had all kinds of chases for all kinds of players and one of the things that gets thrown at them quite often is the last two major transfers they made at Old Trafford, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, where they kicked their feet, They said they wouldn’t pay and eventually ended up paying exactly what both clubs Leicester and Sporting Lisbon wanted.

“They told me this morning that it will not be the case with Jadon Sancho.

“There will be no kind of capitulation at the last minute with Manchester United writing that £ 100 million check we have talked about. I don’t think that’s going to happen. “

Sancho ‘brilliant’ in training

What could have facilitated United’s cause would have been if Sancho had forced the problem on Germany.

But according to Bundesliga expert Jan Aage, Fjortoft Sancho is behaving “brilliantly” in Borussia Dortmund training.

The 20-year-old played in Dortmund’s 5-0 German Cup win over Duisburg on Monday, scoring the first goal from the penalty spot.

Fjortoft confirms that Dortmund is not moving in its asking price and states that Sancho appears to be happy at the Westfalenstadion.

“So here are the facts,” said Fjortoft ESPN FC.

“Dortmund said, you have to come get him before August 10, check, it doesn’t happen.

“Then they said that if you want to get it, you have to spend 120 million euros. There is not even an offer there [from United].

“Maybe they have agreed with the player, but all the reports from Dortmund, and I talk to a lot of people there, he’s brilliant in training, in a good mood, he’s brilliant.”
