The secretary general of the Democratic National Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has asked party members and supporters to actively participate in the voter display exercise, noting that the new registration is riddled with errors.
He said NDC supporters in all constituencies should visit their polling places to ensure their names are on the provisional voter register now and when the Election Commission’s voter display exercise ends on September 25. 2020.
Asiedu Nketiah noted that the provisional voter registration is fraught with problems, adding that it is important that those who registered take steps to ensure their names are on the register so they can vote on Election Day.
“Whether it was intentional on the part of the EC or an attempt to rig the elections for the PNP government, we cannot say, but I will implore all NDC supporters to go and verify your name at your polling place to make sure that his name is there and correctly spelled ”, he said.
Asiedu Nketiah made the call when he addressed separate NDC rallies in Bassa, Okyeamekrom, Kwame Danso and Atebubu on Thursday, as part of a three-day tour of the Bono East region by NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama.
The NDC secretary general expressed concern that certain people have been collecting voter identification cards from NDC supporters under the pretext of granting them loans, noting that the main goal is to prevent them from voting on the day of the elections.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, therefore, urged his party supporters to resist those people when they collect their voter identification cards so they can vote for John Mahama and NDC on December 7.
