The government has promised a financial package for Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashgold for their inter-club CAF assignments.

Professor Peter Twumasi, director general of the National Sports Authority, has revealed to www.ghanaweb.com that the government will support the two clubs to excel in Africa.

He revealed that the government has adopted a policy to mitigate the financial burdens of the clubs when they compete in Africa by handing them some financial packages.

Last year, the government gave Kotoko $ 150,000 for her participation in the CAF Confederations Cup and Professor Twumasi says that Ashgold, who represents Ghana in the same competition, will receive the same amount this year.

Kotoko, on the other hand, will receive $ 200,000 for representing the country in the Champions League this year.

The two teams could receive an additional financial boost from the government if they can reach the group stage of their respective competitions.

“We have agreed that any club that is going to represent the country will receive help. $ 200,000 for the Confederations Cup and $ 250,000 for the CAF Champions League ”.

In the NDC manifesto, they promised to offer financial packages to qualifying clubs for Africa, but Professor Twumasi says such a policy already exists.

He noted that most of the NDC promises are already being implemented by the PNP.

“When I saw the promises that were enshrined in the NDC manifesto, I realized that these are policies that we are already implementing. The ministry has established a policy to support clubs going to Africa. We have a document that is widely distributed. “

“We have an established policy that will continue to be implemented. As you move into the currency zone, we will help you too. We are already building resource centers and multipurpose facilities across the country.

Kotoko will compete in the Champions League while Ashgold fights at the second level.

The two competitions are scheduled to begin in November.
