President of the Mineral Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Hon. George Mireku Duker congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his appointment as President of ECOWAS.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was appointed President of ECOWAS during the Summit of African Heads of States held in Niamey, capital of the Republic of Niger.
” On Monday, September 7, 2020, the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) made the decision to elect me, by unanimous vote, President of ECOWAS for the next term one year. When we think of West Africa together with our individual countries, we are not only pan-Africanists, we are also true nationalists, because what makes West Africa more prosperous will make each of our countries more prosperous.
“I urged my fellow Heads of State to give enthusiastic support to the decisions of the Community and to rapidly build our Community. Our peoples deserve no less, and the goals of peace, progress and prosperity will therefore be within our reach, realizing the historical purposes of ECOWAS “ the president posted on his Instagram page.
Hon. Mireku Duker believes that the good and exemplary leadership of President Akufo-Addo is what earned him the position of President of ECOWAS.
For him, the new position of the president says a lot about his performance and therefore he urged the Ghanaians to also grant him a second term, just as African Heads of State have placed their trust in Nana Addo.
Hon. Mireku Duker took the opportunity to express Ghana’s appreciation to ECOWAS.
“We thank the fifteen countries for the honor bestowed on President Nana Akufo-Addo and Ghana”, said in ‘Kokrokoo’ in Peace FM.
