The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) on Friday made a donation of GHS70,000.00 checks to the National Trust Fund COVID-19.
The Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast and Vice President of GCBC, made the presentation on behalf of the Conference at its Secretariat in Accra.
He was supported by Rev. Fr. Lazarus Anondee, GCBC Secretary General, said an official statement copied to the GNA.
The statement said Archbishop Palmer-Buckle noted that the donation was the widow’s mite from the Catholic Church to support the government, so that collectively Ghana could fight the new Coronavirus disease.
He said GCBC’s nine-month National Response Plan for Covid-19 aimed to provide personal protective equipment for all front-line Catholic health workers, as well as to provide relief items to the elderly and vulnerable.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone, especially the front line workers for their sacrifices, and prayed for God’s protection and intervention.
Mr. Jude Kofi Bucknor, a member of the Board of Trustees, received the check on behalf of the Trust.
It was supported by the Fund Administrator, Dr. Collins Asare.
Mr. Bucknor thanked the Catholic Church on behalf of the Trustees for the generous donation and assured that the Trust would use the money wisely.
