A week-long tribute has been made to Barbara Tommey, the lady who was murdered by her husband, Sylvester Ofori, in the United States.
A video of the week-long memorial has surfaced showing that it was a very emotional time for family and friends.
Tommey was killed by her husband, Pastor Ofori, who is the head of the Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries in Orlando, USA.
As previously reported by YEN.com.ghOrlando Police said the shooting occurred on September 8, 2020, outside the Navy Federal Credit Union branch where Tommey worked.
The circumstance of the death of the 27-year-old girl at the hands of her five-year-old husband has caused a commotion in social networks.
According to accounts from some of the people who know Tommey and her husband, the marriage had been toxic with Ofori exhibiting violence and issuing threats against Tommey’s life.
Tommy’s older sister, in an interview with Kofi TV, confirmed that the marriage had practically collapsed and that Ofori had even tried to strangle his sister just one day before shooting her.
Tuesday, September 15, 2020, was exactly one week since her husband shot Tommey seven times.
In keeping with Ghanaian customs, the family observed a week after his passing in a very bleak ceremony.
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, family and friends were spotted at the scene placing wreaths in memory of Tommey.
Some people were heard in the background singing a Christian song as the crowns were placed.
Then Dirges were played in the background while some people could be heard crying on Twi.
Later, a man addressed the people who had gathered at the monument in honor of Tommey, 28.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bernard Taylor, a friend of Barbara Tommey, has revealed more details about the deceased’s death.
According to Taylor, Tommey refused to report her husband, Pastor Sylvester Ofori, to the police despite many threats against her life.
Taylor revealed that Tommey was unwilling to report Ofori because he did not want his application for US citizenship revoked.
YEN.com.gh previously reported that Tommey’s family has announced the details of his burial.
According to the older sister, the family has decided to put the deceased to rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
