Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has inaugurated a new terminal at the Port of Takoradi to provide essential connections in the oil and gas supply chain sector.
The facility was built by Ibistek Ghana Limited through Marshalls Oil Service, a special purpose vehicle capable of unloading 80,000 tons of liquid cargo (oil) per stream per day at the port.
The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and the Ghana Consolidated Bank (CBG) financed the project at a cost of $ 56 million.
Dr. Bawumia also cut the grass for the construction of the first three-level highway intersection in Takoradi at the PTC / Kwame Nkrumah roundabout.

The Liquid Bulk Terminal has a draft of 14 meters and can handle bulk fuel transport vessels weighing 60,000 tons.
It has five separate loading arms that will allow the discharge of finished petroleum products, including diesel, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), heavy fuel oil (HFO), premium motor spirit (PMS), and bitumen from ships.
The terminal also has a modern control room that will serve as a command center to automatically manage product unloading operations at the dock.
In addition, there is a 10 meter high fire monitor to fight fire on both loading arms and unloading vessels.

At the inauguration of the terminal in the port of Takoradi yesterday, the vice president said that in addition to providing a platform for revenue mobilization, the country’s ports also offer employment to many Ghanaians.
He said the government placed emphasis on promoting a business-friendly environment, as exemplified by the services ports provide to neighboring landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.

PTC / Kwame Nkrumah roundabout
Contractors working at the PTC / Kwame Nkrumah roundabout have 30 months to convert the site into a three-level interchange with direct access to the Takoradi Central Market (Market Circle).
Currently there is traffic congestion in the roundabout that distributes traffic in the city, especially at peak times and, therefore, the need for some expansion.

The vice president said the rapid growth of the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis had made the need for an exchange very vital.
He said other interchanges would be built at Sekondi-Takoradi, including one at the Paa-Grant roundabout, but said the project could not be run concurrently like the one at the PTC roundabout due to the associated inconvenience it would cause to the automotive public. .
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, said that the bridges and other road infrastructure projects that are currently underway in the region will be completed as scheduled.
A division chief in Takoradi, Osahene Katakyie Busumakora III, praised the government for the events taking place in the region and called for support for the government to do more for the region.
