The Electoral Commission has established a five-day period for presidential, parliamentary and independent candidates to submit their nomination forms prior to the 2020 elections.

The Commission has also reserved a filing fee of GH ¢ 100,000 for presidential candidates and GH ¢ 10,000 for that of parliamentary candidates to be paid through a bank transfer.

According to the EC president, candidates are expected to submit their nominations between October 5-9, 2020 through the portal of the Commission’s website.

Addressing the press at a press conference in Accra on Monday, September 14, 2020, EC President Jean Mensa explained that the decision was made in accordance with COVID-19 security protocols.

“In the past, the two-day periods granted to parties were not sufficient for them to submit or make the necessary changes to their nominations if necessary.”

“All candidates must submit their nomination forms online through the portal of the EC website; www.ec.gov.ghana / policyparties. A unique password will be provided to the general secretaries of the parties so that they can submit their nomination forms “
