Ghana Premier League committee vice chair Jesse Agyapong has said his team is finding it difficult to secure a title sponsor for the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Jesse and his team were confident of securing a sponsorship deal before March, yet the outbreak of the deadly virus in the country has thwarted their efforts.
The league was canceled in June and there are plans to start the new season in October.
“We had a break from many things after the COVID-19 outbreak. For at least five, six corporate organizations that we have spoken with so far, their willingness to participate was there, but unfortunately for us, COVID rears its head.” he said on Asempa FM.
“Now, the good thing is president [Kurt Okraku] he visited some corporate institutions last month and the marketing team is also making moves. “
“With the release of the economy after the lockdown, I am very confident that if the game resumes, the sponsors who were willing to come with us at the time will come back,” he added.
The Ghana Football Association is confident of starting the new season in October.
