Akufo-Addo commissions the Bechem Business Resource Center

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commissioned the Bechem Business Resource Center in the Tano Sur district of the Ahafo Region.

The Center was established by the Ministry of Commerce to provide strategic support and assistance to the national private sector operating in the Tano Sur district.

Commissioning the project on Saturday, the president stated that 67 business resource centers (BRCs), including the one in Bechem, have been established in 67 districts across the country.

So far, 30 of the Centers have already started operating.

Businesses operating under the government’s 1-District-1-Factory will also benefit from the assistance that the BRCs will provide.

The BRCs are being financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), with the National Small-Scale Industries Board (NBSSI) and the FREE Foundation as the two implementing agencies.

The Ministry of Commerce took steps to realign the Rural Business Program (REP) to respond to emerging opportunities under the government’s Industrial Transformation Agenda, such as the 1-District-1-Factory initiative, and other related interventions.

The Rural Business Program currently supports some 63 1D1F projects.

President Akufo-Addo told the meeting that the 37 BRCs are being managed by experienced professionals and have been equipped with modern office logistics.

He said that they will soon be digitally connected via a Virtual Private Network to facilitate efficient delivery of their operations.

Once again, all BRCs will collaborate extensively with trade regulatory agencies such as the General Records Department (RGD), the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Food and Drug Authority. (FDA) to provide a complete package. of business support services at the district level.

In addition to supporting 1D1F businesses at the district level, BRCs provide the following services to other Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MIPYMES).

They will also offer training in management and entrepreneurship; business advisory and advisory services; preparation of business plans; facilitate access to financial services and credit, and facilitate access to markets.

The President expressed his appreciation to the Chiefs and Assembly of the Tano Southern District for providing the land for the project.

He urged people to offer their support to ensure that the Center can provide the necessary assistance to the private sector to enhance the development of the local economy of the Tano Sur district and surrounding communities.
