Some hospitals in the Volta and Oti regions have received thousands of masks from the MTN Ghana Foundation.
The donations being made across the country seek to encourage more people to wear face masks to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement read by MTN Volta / Oti leader Mawuli Katahena on behalf of Area Sales Manager Southeast Steven Asare, healthcare workers across the country are also supported.
He noted that “During this pandemic, we have recognized that protecting our healthcare workers is paramount. Healthcare workers use many face masks inside and outside hospitals and we are delighted to be able to provide additional face masks. ”
Mr. Asare stated that the donations are part of the foundation’s face mask campaign called “Use it for me and be smart” emphasizes the need for people to cultivate the habit of wearing masks regularly, which has become very necessary.
He said that in the aftermath of the virus outbreak, the foundation has supported a series of interventions to help reduce the spread of the disease.
The MTN Foundation, according to Asare, donated ¢ 5 million in PPE to the Covid-19 national trust fund, as well as a donation of essential equipment to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research for rapid testing and data processing.
According to him, the MTN Ghana Foundation has been helpful in national development through investments in different areas of economic development, education, health, etc.
“More than ¢ 15,207,874.19 have been invested in some 150 projects throughout the country. It is estimated that these projects have impacted more than 4 million people, ”he said.
Ho Municipal Hospital Administrator Samuel Omega thanked the team on behalf of the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Lawrence Kumi.
He mentioned that the timely donation would be of great help to the hospital in the fight against the pandemic.
The group donated 3,000 pieces of KN95 masks to the Ho municipal hospital and 2,700 to Ketu South in the Volta region, 3,000 to Jasican and Dambai 3,700 in the Oti region and 88,000 across the country.
