Missing ‘DKM’ clients will receive their deposits at the end of September – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has assured that the government will return the deposits of all clients of the defunct microfinance company “DKM” at the end of September.

He said his administration inherited ¢ 70 million of debt in the previous government’s “DKM” rampage, but the official liquidator had finalized the modalities and clients were expected to receive their deposits as soon as possible.

President Akufo-Addo provided the reassurance when he inaugurated Weddi Africa’s agricultural and tomato processing farms under the initiative of the One-District-Factory (1D1F) government at Domfete in the Berekum West district of the Bono region.

The president made similar comments when he addressed the chiefs and people of Zezera in a durbar in the region’s Jaman Sur municipality after inspecting the rehabilitation works of the 31.7-kilometer Bafaano-Zezera-Adamsu highway, such as part of his two days. working tour in the region.

It was a night of joy and ecstasy in Domfete when President Akufo-Addo and his entourage, including ministers of state, members of Parliament and officials of the New Patriotic Party, arrived in the city around 7:00 p.m.

People could not hide their joy as they praised the president for building the factory that would create economic opportunities for them.

President Akufo-Addo said that his government will forever remain faithful to fulfill all its campaign promises and alleviate the difficult socio-economic situation of Ghanaians.

Therefore, he called on Ghanaians to vote and retain their government in the 2020 elections to see an improvement in their livelihoods.

Trade Minister Allan Kyerematen, for his part, said the Bono region would benefit from 14 factories under 1D1F to create jobs for people and boost socio-economic development.

Dr. Daasebre Amankona Diawuo II, the Supreme Head of the Berekum Traditional Area, endorsed President Akufo-Addo and assured that his people would support his government to facilitate accelerated national development.

He said that for the past 20 years successive governments had neglected and denied the Berekum municipality the necessary development and praised the Administration of President Akufo-Addo for reshaping the roads in the town of Berekum.

Daasebre’s Dr. Diawuo II said that the rehabilitation of the 22-kilometer asphalt roads had beautified the municipality of Berekum and called on the president to push for infrastructure development at the two upper secondary schools in the area.

He said the St. Augustine SHS in Nsapor needed a school bus, while the Berekum SHS also required blocks of classrooms and dormitories.

For their part, managers of the factory, which was built with financial support from Exim Bank Ghana, said 2,700 outside growers had been hired, but that ¢ 2 million would be needed to purchase seedlings for the nursery and plant to feed the factory. .

The factory would help reduce tomato imports from neighboring Burkina Faso and create enough jobs for the population.
